Antioxidant activities and the chemical composition of the essential oil from Eucalyptus pulverulenta (Baby Blue Eucalyptus) grown in The Nilgiris

Eucalyptus pulverulenta (Baby Blue Eucalyptus) originated from Australia is one of the rare species family (Myrtaceae) and well adapted to hilly regions India. Apart cut foliage utility plant, its leaves have a pleasant aroma like most members Myrtaceae. This study was designed extract essential oil using hydro distillation method. Four different types samples were used (viz. tender leaves, mature sticks, along with sticks alone) among which matured found maximum amount oil. GC-MS analysis carried out analyse chemical composition. The major component be 1, 8 cineole. antioxidant ability scavenge free radicals assessed three assays: DPPH assay, ABTS assay FRAP assay.
